What is a BIC
BIC is short for Business Identifier Code and was formerly known as BIC/Swift. A BIC is used to uniquely identify banks in financial transactions across national borders. The code has a length of 8 or 11 characters. The first six characters are always letters and the rest are letters and/or numbers.
TIP: In cases where you are asked for a BIC of 11 characters (a BIC11), but you only have a BIC of 8 characters (a BIC8), you can enter "XXX" in the three spaces of the code.
Below you will find BICs for Nordea in the Nordic region and internationally. You can also find information about IBAN.

In your usual branch you can obtain self-adhesive labels in English, German and French (with the corresponding BIC) which you can stick on to your invoices.
Please contact your usual branch or cash management adviser in Nordea if you need additional information.
